About Lotta and Andrew

Lotta Sebzda is a 58 years old hairdresser-ashtangalover - mother of two adult children and two grandchildren.

Ever since Lotta was a child, she was mostly upside down, doing handstands, cartwheel or other gymnastic.

When she found AshtangaYoga in the late 90s it was like coming home, she says - she was immediately drawn to the practice.

Since that day it’s a big part of her life - with dedication, love, curiosity, energy and gratefulness, she follows the traditional Mysore style. It was taught by late Sri K. Pattabhi Jois and now his grandson, R. Sharath Jois.

Andrew also started his AshtangaYoga-journey in the same time as Lotta. With a background as a basketball-player, he had many old injuries to deal with. Ashtanga yoga helped him to strengthen the weak and injured parts of his body, and today yoga is the only thing that keeps him strong, both in body and mind.

Introduction to Tai Chi Grammar with Ann Danaiya Usher

Introduction to Tai Chi Grammar with Ann Danaiya Usher

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

Welcome to an intensive four-day workshop at the Nøsen Retreat Centre in the Norwegian

mountains. Ann will guide participants through the basic principles of Tai Chi Grammar, an

instrument that helps us become more fluent and fluid in our movement. The approach is

systematic, but also playful and very interactive, giving participants tools and concepts they can use to enhance their practice. Expect to work in pairs and threes to test out ideas. The workshop is open for anyone who has learned the tai chi set, as well as experienced practitioners.

Tai Chi Grammar

In language, grammar is the underlying structure guiding and informing the way we speak. Once we speak a language, we no longer need the grammar. But while we are learning, grammar is a tool; it helps us along the way. Likewise, Tai Chi Grammar is an explanatory framework that aims to give students, both veteran practitioners and people newer to the art, a way to deepen their understanding of the movement, to gain autonomy in their own practice, and to connect to the spine.
A resident of Norway since 1996, Ann Danaiya Usher began her practice of tai chi in the style of Moy Lin Shin in the early 1980s in Montréal. She has taught classes and workshops in Canada, Sweden, England and Norway. Over the last decade, she has been investigating the internal structures of tai chi, in search of a methodology to inform her own practice and to ground her teaching. This pursuit has resulted in the development of a set of principles – a “grammar” of tai chi.

Along with her teacher Philippe Gagnon, Ann presented this grammar for the first time as a systematic whole at Nøsen in the fall of 2024. Philippe describes Tai Chi Grammar this way: “it methodically offers instructors a way to introduce students to a central, yet often elusive, feature of internal movement which involves stretching the lower spine … addressing one of the cornerstones of internal movement in a structured way.” Here’s what participants from Canada and several countries in Europe have said about the grammar: “It changed the understanding of my tai chi practice … the newest perspective of tai chi that I have come across so far … it transformed my understanding of sitting and dropping … very important in my journey and my learning of tai chi.”

This workshop will take place over four days. It is both for people who have just learned the set and for experienced practitioners. We will go step by step through the first principles of Tai Chi Grammar, finding applications in the set and making concepts relevant to each student’s practice and individual challenges. The workshop will consist of six 3-hour sessions with the possibility for exchange, free practice, play, and discussion in the evenings. Each day, there will be a long break for lunch and rest, with time to explore the spectacular surroundings. July is the height of the Norwegian summer; the days are long and sunsets last well past 11 pm.

Nøsen is located about 3-4 hours northwest of Oslo. There are buses and trains from Oslo to

Black Lotus Yoga with Ty Landrum

Black Lotus Yoga with Ty Landrum

Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell (map)

Black Lotus is a new form of vinyasa yoga designed to be practiced in the Mysore style. Based on traditional Hatha principles, the system offers six deep and playful sequences of ascending difficulty to open the inner channels of the body and encourage the creative sap to flow.  Each sequence has three "shades" or variants, so you can scale the sequence to your immediate circumstance, and make the practice your own.

In this intensive, Ty teaches the fundamental energetic principles behind Black Lotus Yoga. You will learn how the Black Lotus system works, how to practice the First and Second Series, and how to advance further into other series as your practice evolves. There is an abundance of passion and intelligence here, in the emergence of Black Lotus Yoga, and you are invited to be part of the new blossoming.

No prior experience with Black Lotus Yoga is necessary, but some familiarity with vinyasa yoga, and especially with the Mysore style of practice, is highly recommended.  You can see a video of the First Series of the Black Lotus system here.

Ashtangis: Please note that you are welcome to practice your regular ashtanga practice in the morning, but our workshops will revolve around Black Lotus postures and sequences. Ashtanga and Black Lotus are meant to be practiced side by side, and to support one another.

Program

Our program involves six mornings of Mysore-style asana practice, five sessions of pranayama and chanting, and five afternoon workshops lovingly designed to illumine our theme. The workshops will cover postural alignment, internal breath, bandha, mudra, energetic balance, and of course, the philosophy and mythology of Hatha Yoga.

Asana instruction will encompass both Ashtanga Vinyasa and Black Lotus Yoga, the new vinyasa system designed to be practiced in the Mysore style.  Practice sheets will be on hand for those who want to learn Black Lotus sequencing.

About Kino & Tim

Kino MacGregor and Tim Feldmann, co-founders of the renowned Miami Life Center and the newly opened Miami Yoga Garage, met over two decades ago in India through Ashtanga Yoga. Their lives revolve around their shared spiritual practice in sunny Miami, where they enjoy beach walks and cultivating mangoes. Together, they bring a magical synergy to the yoga room, infusing their teaching with compassion, authenticity, and inspiration honed through over 25 years of disciplined personal practice.

Tim, originally from Denmark, holds an authorized Level 2 certification from K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois, and he has practiced yoga since 1994. His background as a successful international dancer and acclaimed choreographer informs his teaching, emphasizing anatomy, alignment, and technique. Tim’s extensive studies in South India, guided by scholars like Vidwan Nagaraja Rao, Jayashree, Narasimha and others, have deepened his understanding of Patañjali, Sankhya, and Vedanta.

Kino, on the other hand, discovered yoga at 19, embarked on a journey to India at 22, and crossed paths with her teachers, K. Pattabhi Jois and R. Sharath Jois. Since then, she has devoted herself to a daily sadhana of Vipassana meditation and Ashtanga Yoga, shaping her teaching around these two traditions. One of the few people to practice into the Fifth Series, Advanced D, she received Certification to teacher from K. Pattabhi Jois before his passing. With a prominent presence in the yoga community, Kino is the founder of Omstars.com, an author of seven books, the producer of the Yoga Inspiration podcast, and boasts a vast following on social media platforms, including over 1 million Instagram followers, 800,000 YouTube subscribers, and more across other channels.
