According to Patanjali’s Yoga-Sutras Asana is one of the eight limbs on the path of yoga and as well a very central point in our yoga practice. Finding balance, stretching muscles, keeping the core active, opening the spine – did you ever wonder what’s actually happening in our body when we practice Asana? Which muscles are being stretched, where are they and what is their function? How are our feet connected to our pelvis? How does the position of my hips affect the posture of my shoulders? Those and many more questions we will explore in this retreat.

The days will be started by morning Ashtanga yoga practice - you can choose between a led and Mysore class, followed by a Japa meditation and breathing exercises. In daily anatomy workshops, we will talk about the general anatomy and the “architecture” of our body focusing on a different body area every day. In the afternoon we will continue exploring these areas in yoga-technique classes and we will try to combine our new knowledge with the technique behind the asanas or general topics like balance, strength in standing, or push-ups. After that, we will finish the day with a deep relaxing soft yoga class, where we will again focus on the particular body area.

Of course, there will also be some free time for exploring our beautiful mountain scenery on skis or feet or just for relaxing.

No matter if you’re a beginner or a very experienced practitioner, the workshop tries to offer new interesting inputs and support for all levels.

If you’re interested in a specific topic you can already let us know when you do the booking. 😊

Nøsen is located in magnificent undisturbed natural surroundings and there is plenty of time every day to go skiing, hiking, or just enjoying the silence. For those who want to drive Alpine skiing, Vaset is 10 minutes away and Hemsedal 45 minutes away.

About the teachers

Katharina Widder is from Austria and is an educated Physiotherapist. She started practicing and studying Ashtanga yoga years ago in Vienna with Horst Rinnerberger, KPJAYI authorized, and since 2019 she is as well continuing her education with Alexander R. Medin, KPJAYI authorized. Yoga is for her more than just bodily postures and she tries to follow the yoga path in all aspects of her daily life. Due to her profession, she is anyways very interested in the physiology and the functioning of the body when we practice Asana and also focuses on that field in her work.

Eva Antonie Brozova works at Nøsen as the daily manager, practicing and teaching Ashtanga yoga system. She started studying Ashtanga in Prague Shala with Denisa Sengerova, KPJAYI 1 authorized, and nowadays she continues her studies with R. Alexander Medin, KPJAYI certified, at Nøsen Yoga og Fjellhotell. She regards the practice as a practice of life. What we do in our daily lives influences how our practice will be, and vice versa. If we learn how to relax during the practice, that feeling will penetrate in the rest of the day. The practice of yoga represents a life journey to the true self, uncovering the deepest patterns, and realizing ourselves as an individual and as a part of nature.
