Are you curious about Tai Chi or would you like to deepen your practice? From 8th September to 10th September, Ann Danaiya Usher comes to Nøsen where she will hold an intensive Tai Chi workshop suiting both beginners and advanced students.
Tai Chi is a broad term describing a Chinese training form with elements from both meditation and self-defense. There are several Tai Chi styles like Yang, Chen, Sun, Wu, named after the Chinese families who created them in the 1700-1800s. All of these can be recognized as Tai Chi, with graceful, floating movements that emphasize martial arts and meditation to different degree. The form of Tai Chi that Ann Danaiya Usher practices falls within the Yang style. It was developed by a taoist monk, Moi Linshin (Mei Linxin), who moved from Hong Kong to Canada in the 1960s. With 108 movements, the form emphasizes health-related aspects of Tai Chi, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, relaxation.
Through stretching and gentle twists, all parts of the body, and especially the spine, are in constant motion - extension, contraction and rotation. It is a comprehensive exercise that strengthens the body, improves blood and lymphatic circulation, and increases the sense of well-being.
