Fill one of the darkest weekends of the year with energy and inspiration to take charge of your life.
You've probably noticed that you feel a little different after taking different yoga classes? Sometimes you become full of drive and courage, or you can feel a little sad and drained of energy, sometimes clean and clear in body and mind, or you become focused and steady as a pole.
This is no accident, if we believe the yoga theory. Which positions we do, how we breathe and move the spine, the way the class is structured and what is the focus of the class have a lot to say about how you feel afterwards.
The core of yoga therapeutic thinking is that the forms we move through, the sequencing and the groups of positions we do on the yoga mat have certain psychological effects on our system. For example, backbends build courage and strength, have an invigorating effect and open us up to the outside world, while hip openers help us to release mental and physical stress that has been stored more or less consciously in the muscles around our hips throughout a long life.
On the long weekend 27 to 30 October, Maria Fürst invites you to experience the therapeutic effects different types of vinyasa classes can have on your body and mind. Her goal is to enable you to choose classes and sequences based on your own needs and what you are in at any given time. In this way, the yoga practice can help you become your own guide.
Maria Fürst:
Maria Fürst is a prominent Vinyasa teacher in Norway. After living in San Francisco for three years, the former journalist started her own yoga studio at Vinderen in Oslo in 2014. She taught all the classes herself and built up a large client base. In 2017, she published the book Yoga - your path to balance, flow and strength, and the following year the energetic mother of two got her own yoga blog on United Influencers via ELLE. In 2020, she helped start up the great studio Aya Yoga at Lilleaker in Oslo, together with Grethe Tveitnes-Iversen, among others. In addition to teaching here, she is responsible for yoga, and last year she led Aya Yoga's first yoga teacher training.
Maria discovered yoga at the age of 37. She plunged into the practice and it changed her life radically. She has spent a year in private learning with Lamott Atkins at Bikram Yoga Castro. She then took all the education she could get her hands on at the Yoga Garden in San Francisco. She is currently a certified E-RYT500 vinyasa yoga teacher, as well as a pregnancy, maternity and children's yoga teacher. In addition, she has studied yoga therapy, sequencing and yoga philosophy with her American teachers.
Because yoga has changed Maria's quality of life so radically, she is very interested in why and how yoga affects body and mind. In her book, she tries to convey the essence of this in an easy-to-understand way. On this retreat you will experience the immediate effects yourself. Maria teaches with precise verbal instructions and thorough follow-up of each individual student. You will feel seen and understood.
With this, we warmly welcome you to a weekend where we dive into body and mind - and in that way nourish the soul.
