The Back in the Ring foundation teaches yoga weekly in 17 prisons throughout Norway. Now we want more teachers to join the team. That is why we are pleased to offer a weekend workshop for all yoga teachers who want to contribute valuable knowledge.

This course will review the basic methods of BITR and prepare you to become a prison counselor or yoga teacher. You will learn various yoga techniques that balance the body, calm the mind and strengthen the nervous system. You will also gain an insight into BITR's value base and cornerstones. Furthermore, you will learn simple techniques for dialogue and honest, deep listening conversations with inmates.

BITR focuses on yoga, meditation and conversations. Our methods have proven to help drug addicts and inmates regulate destructive behaviour, take care of inherent resources, become more humble about how easy it is to stumble and to build up good values that last in the long run.

Do you have some experience of yoga that you would like to share and are curious to learn a little about our methods? Then this course is for you and we hope you will join us in giving more inmates the opportunity to learn yoga.

Teacher:

Alexander Medin
Alexander has been teaching yoga in prisons since 2011 and working with inmates and drug addicts since then. He has an MA in Sanskrit and Indian Religions. He is the founder of Back in the Ring and Nøsen Yoga and Fjellhotell.

Turid Jørgensen Honerud
Turid is a musician and yoga teacher. She runs the yoga lab in Drangedal and has worked in recent years in BITR as a yoga teacher for inmates.

Albin Bendu
Albin runs the yoga station in Hamar. He has worked for BITR since 2015 after he was released from a longer sentence at Ila. Albin has a lot of warmth and deep insight into how to build up inmates.

May Rita K. Sætervoll
