The focus - Transitions

We will focus on the “transitions” between the poses that make up a vinyasa yoga sequence. Often the practice is to rush into the poses, to experience them briefly. But the “moments in between” are equally important for achieving a state of flow during the practice.

The way we approach our yoga practice, is the same way we approach our lives outside the practice. Learning to move from pose to pose will allow us to better handle the transitions embedded in our daily routines, such as moving from work to family, private to social, negative emotions to positive ones, and the jumps between different mental states.

Transitioning is about “being in the moment of change”. It requires time to respond, to read our own body. Time to think, feel, and react.

Therefore I invite you to practice “the art of transitioning”. Together we investigate how we move through our practice taking in consideration all that arises in your body, your level of experience with yoga and the type of practice (to calm or to activate).

Just as fluid lubricates a hinge, when we live and move fluidly, we are able to open to change with less resistance and difficulty.
— Donna Farhi

Benefits to you

When you pay full attention to the transitional moments, you are training to seamlessly connect the parts of your total practice. You will use your energy more efficiently by staying in a continuum instead of stepping in and out of a state of concentration, and you will protect your body from injury over time. But the biggest benefit is that knowing your particular way of “transitioning” will bring more satisfaction and a joyful way of experiencing your body.

TEACHER´S BIO (Ingrid Londono)

I am a 11 year experienced, Yoga-Works trained, and first aid certified yoga teacher (E-RYT 500+). I teach vinyasa flow, restorative and Nidra styles to beginners, improvers and advanced students.

I am also passionate about working with mothers through prenatal and postnatal styles, because I want to ease their process of “becoming mothers”, which for some, is quite a personal transformation. I believe that yoga is a wonderful tool to develop connection, confidence, and understanding of our own body and from that self and grounded understanding, we can relate to the world around us in a less reactive manner. This is the emphasis of my teaching in all the groups, regardless of the yoga style.

I also enjoy connecting with different types of people through my teaching. I enjoy witnessing how the practice removes the barriers people have to relate to others. Experiencing the transformation that the practice creates is the most rewarding moment to me. My classes are small, considerate, yet dynamic, and modified to the level of each group. I make sure that students practice with a non-competitive attitude, gentleness, safety and joy. I teach in English.

BACKGROUND

Besides teaching yoga in collaboration with Sats/Hiyoga and other studios, including my own (Londonoyoga), I am a licensed architect in Oslo and a mother of a nine year old boy. Yoga and architecture are complementary. When combined, they enrich and inform the way I relate to my clients and develop my projects. I am currently developing an initiative to experience buildings through the practice of yoga.
